Dragonball - The Piccolo Daimao Saga

In the aftermath of the 24th Tenchi Budocki, a villain new villain appears. His name is Piccolo Daimao, the Demon Lord Piccolo. When Kami first came to Earth, he had to divide out the evil portion of his being into a seperate entity, which he imprisioned up in his lookout. Piccolo Daimao, the evil half of Kami, managed to escape and had plans to rule the world. Gathering all the dragonballs, he wished to have his youth restored, making him more powerful than Kami himself. In the chaos of all the killing surrounding his world domination efforts, Piccolo Daimao killed Kuririn. This was a big mistake, since Kuririn, by this time, was Goku's best friend and Goku didn't take to kindly to Piccolo Daimao after that. As they fought, the fight seemed fairly even until Goku's rage boiled over and he just careened straight towards Piccolo Daimao and flew right through his chest, making a Goku sized hole in it. In his dying moments, Piccolo Daimao transfered his life essence to an egg and spit it out so he would live on in this world.

Having learned all that he could from Kamesennin, Goku traveled to Kami's Lookout by way of Karin Tower, and he trained under the guidance of Kami and his assistant, Mr. Popo. Goku became much stronger during his time on Kami's Lookout and grew older, especially due to training in the Room Of Spirit And Time, where a year passes inside for every day outside, and the gravity inside is several times heavier than that of Earth. When the 25th Tenchi Budocki is scheduled to be held, Goku returns to Earth and suprises his old friends with his new size and strength.

As always, Goku reaches the final 8, which also includes Jackie Chun, Kuririn, Yamcha, Tenshin-han, Ox King's daughter Chi-chi, a green skinned warrior called Ma Junior, and a bumbling old man named Shen. At the tournament, Chi-chi recognizes Goku and reminds him of an unwitting promise he made to marry her, and to honorable to go back on his word, Goku agrees to marry her after the tournament. Goku advances to fight Tenshin-han in the second round of the finals, because Kamesennin (Jackie Chun) let Tenshin-han win so Goku could fight him, and Ma Junior fights Shen, who bumbled around and fell striking his head between his opponent's legs in the previous round. Shen is actually Kami in disguise, which is revealed in his superior fighting against Ma Junior, but he still fails to win. Goku fares better against Tenshin-han this time around, and defeats him to advance to the finals. Ma Junior reveals that he is Piccolo Daimao's son (just Piccolo in DBZ) and that he is seeking revenge on his hated enemy, Goku. They fight for a long time, nearly demolishing the entire arena, but Goku manages to win, finally becoming world champion and rescinding any thoughts Piccolo Jr. may have had of world domination. After the tournament, true to his word, Goku marries Chi-chi. At this point, the series skips forward a few years to the start of Dragonball Z.
