![]() Legend says that black magicians once used their magic to give life to a statue. This powerful evil being was known as Hirudegarn, and could only be controlled by the use of two magic whistles. Tapion and Minosha, two brothers, played these whistles and calmed Hirudegarn enough that a priest was able to cut him in two. The top half was sealed into Tapion's body, and Minosha got the bottom half. The two were each sealed into a box and launched into space, so that Hirudegarn would never be released again. Years later, an evil magician named Hoi found Minosha's box and released the bottom portion of Hirudegarn. He then set about trying to find the other box. Gohan and Videl go to rescue a man from commiting suicide. The man, Hoi, tells them that a great evil is coming and a man in a box must be released, for he is a great hero. They assure him they will help, and find Tapion's box. Since they are unable to open it, they gather the dragonballs and wish it open. When Tapion emerges, all that he will say is he is evil. Trunks admires Tapion, but Tapion won't give him the time of day. Hoi steals Tapion's whistle, and Trunks gets it back. Upon seeing this display, Tapion repents and tells them about Hirudegarn, and why he cannot sleep for fear of the monster escaping. Bulma, feeling sorry for him, builds a special room for him where he can sleep. The monster still escapes. Hirudegarn's two halves come together, and the monster is reborn. Hoi tries to control the monster, which promptly kills him. As the battle ensues, everyone is defeated. Tapion tries using his whistle, but it shatters so Goten and Trunks fuse together, and Super Saiya-jin Level 3 Gotenks beats on Hirudegarn until he goes into a cocoon. When he emerges, he has wings and is stronger. Only Goku is still standing. He refuses to give up, and keeps fighting Hirudegarn until he hits Hirudegarn with a dragonfist uppercut. Hirudegarn is engulfed by a golden dragon, and destroyed.
Now that Hirudegarn is dead, Tapion wants to return to before he was shot into space and live his life again, so Bulma makes him a time machine. Before he leaves, he gives Trunks his sword, which he doesn't think he will need anymore. The sword is the same one that Mirai Trunks used when he defeated Freeza and King Cold.
