Vegetto is the fusion between Goku and Vegeta using the Kaiou-shin's Potarra earrings, and he only makes one appearance during the entire series. During the fight with Buu, Goku returns to earth with the Potarra earrings, already wearing one and intending to give the other to Gohan. The earrings would fuse the two beings permanently, but Goku considered it a worthwhile consequence to save earth. As Goku tosses Gohan the other earring, Gohan is absorbed by Buu and the fusion cannot take place. Putting aside his arrogance, Vegeta scoops up the earring and puts it on, instantly uniting with Goku to from Vegetto.
Vegetto is extemely powerful, the most powerful character in Dragonball Z, with a power level greater than that of Goku and Vegeta combined. Unlike Gotenks and Gogeta, who tend to play with their prey, Vegetto goes straight to work and beats Buu senseless. Knowing his friends are inside Buu, Vegeto stops his assault and allows himself to be absorbed. Once inside Buu, Vegetto is broken down into Vegeta and Goku again by the magic of Buu's belly, then they find Gohan, Goten and Trunks inside and rescue them. Vegetto is never formed again.
