Although he sometimes appears to be more of a pansy with his special poses and dances than an elite warrior, Captain Ginyu is the leader of Freeza's most powerful unit, the Ginyu Force. He first shows up in the Freeza saga when Freeza decides the Ginyus must come in to quell the uprisings among his trooops. Once their, the Ginyus immediately get ahold of the dragonballs and Captain Ginyu brings them back to Freeza's ship, letting his men take care of Gohan, Kuririn, and Vegeta. He is still at the ship, after beating some of Freeza's men do to their inability to strike a pose, when he finds out that Goku has defeated most of his men, and he rushes to the fight.
When he gets to Goku, Captain Ginyu is suprised to find only Jase left alive, and even more suprised to discover that he cannot defeat Goku. Feeling his body dying, he makes a last ditch effort, using his special ability, and changes bodies with Goku, taking Goku's strong body and heading for Freeza's ship and leaving Goku dying in his own body. Unfortunately for Captain Ginyu, he doesn't quite understand how to power up his new body and he gets thrashed by Gohan and Kuririn. He sees that he is about to lose again and starts to switch bodies with Vegeta. Goku throws himself inbetween the two, and Captain Ginyu gets his old, dying body back, as does Goku, except Goku's body is now also injured. Captain Ginyu tries to switch with Vegeta one more time, but this time Goku throws a frog inbetween them, locking Ginyu in its body since he can no longer say the words to change bodies.
Ginyu the frog makes his next appearance with Bulma, who takes pity on him and gives him a ride on her motorcycle. Seeing how intelligen the frog is, Bulma builds a device to let it speak and Captain Ginyu promptly changes bodies with her. Then he goes to watch Goku fight Freeza with Kuririn, Piccolo, and Gohan while doing a really bad Bulma impression. Between Ginyu's terrible play acting and Bulma the frog's erratic behavior, Gohan figures out what's up and Captain Ginyu tries to attack them. Realizing he is helpless in Bulma's body, he tries to switch with Piccolo but Gohan throws Bulma the frog inbetween them, restoring Bulma to her body and trapping Ginyu back in the frog. He goes to earth when the dragon moves everone from Namek to earth, but that is the end of Captain Ginyu.
